Phone Calls Every Week!

Yo!

This week has been kinda crazy. So Sunday morning there were a few military helicopters flying around the city, super close to my apartment. It was kinda freaky, and ya. But it turns out that it was a National Guard training so that was pretty cool to watch. That night we had a dinner appointment with a senior couple in our mission who live in a house near the capital. When we got there it was a sunny day and everything was peachy. Halfway through the dinner the weather went crazy, and we got a really hard storm for a little bit. So we trudged home (my companion was smart and had had his jacket, and I was less smart, and did not), and then spent the rest of the evening listening to a Hawaiian record on my player.

The rest of this week has been pretty uneventful, until today, where it was announced by the First Presidency that all missionaries can call home every week on their preparation day, effective immediately. Well today just so happened to be my p-day, and I think I might be the first missionary to call home based on this new guideline. I know that I was the first in my mission, and not many missions have missionaries with Friday preparation days.

So as soon as I found out that I could, I called (the  pictures are during that call), and after thinking about it and talking it over with some other missionaries, we are pretty confident that I was the first missionary able to do so. So those pictures may be historic ;) hahaha

But it was super cool to be able to call and talk with my parents. It really helped pump me up to be here and be a missionary, which is partly the purpose of said change.

The rest of today has seemed to just fly by. Picked up some new records this week, one of which has some amazing jazz on it.

Well that is pretty much it for this week. The biggest thing is that I was able to talk with mis padres, and that made me pretty darn happy.

Love,
Elder James Bartholomew
